Every generation has its best player of all-time. Pelé, Di Stéfano, Beckenbauer, Cruyff, Platini, Zico, Maradona, Ronaldo, Zidane, Messi etc., whoever your favorite is, this is an invitation to explore the legend of Michel Platini, via free video links. We hope you like it.
In 1981, the Calcio lifted its ban on foreign players. the Italian Serie A instantly acted as a magnet to the world's best players and concentrated them like no other league ever since.
Footballs were heavier, tackles were harsher, medical follow-up was lighter and the rising catenaccio locked defenses. Limitation to two international players per team leveled games ensuring no weekend would be easy. The quality of fields as well! 3-0 back then really was like 6-0 today. Legends like Platini, Maradona, Zico, Rummenigge etc. topped the league with 15-20 goals. All European Cups were knockout rounds only and only the Champion would qualify to the Champions League. There were fewer small international teams as the Eastern block was still standing and there were fewer slots for each competition anyway.
Still, a Frenchman from Lorraine, with Italian roots, made us dream. And he made us win. We had never won before. Not to this extent at least. And he was funny, he was smart, he pulled an entire generation to his sides and kept saying this was just a game. He was the best player in the World. And when he became the 1st ever player to run for UEFA Presidency, he won. And he told us again this was just a game, the Game.
One of the best players ever, arguably the most complete ever, Michel Platini was a leader, a strategist and a striker, all by himself, with unseen before passing skills and panoramic vista of the game. The 1st French superstar in sport, who offered his country its 1st major title ever, in any collective sport.
